The Newry Shamrocks GAC was founded in 1931, and recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2006. The Newry Shamrocks are based at Pairc Esler, on the Warrenpoint Road in Newry and participate in Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies Football, Camogie and Scor.

Minors Win at Mayobridge
Shamrocks 3-16 Mayobridge 2-17

Shamrocks bounced back from their narrow defeat in Saval last week, with a good win in Mayobridge. The home team started brightly and dominated the early exchanges and had registered four points on the scoreboard before Jack Haughey settled the Shamrocks nerves with a well taken point from a free.

The teams traded further points before Shamrocks were awarded a penalty, which Jack duly dispatched to the back of the net. It looked

minors back on track
was great to see that a shamrocks minor team still have fight in them like the old minor teams of the mid 80s, the boys were two points down but fought their way back to lead by 5 and hung on through relentless mayobridge to gain two points. there was some fine finishing from jack hawky, terrence morgan and steven jennings who had a difficult game at saval last week but bounced back well scoring 4 points from play and won the penalty that proved the decider. well done lads keep it up!

Good Luck to Sean Gallagher and all those representing the Abbey on Wednesday in Clones, Killian, Niall, Gavin, Luke, Aaron and Connor. Would be great to see these boys bring the Cup to Newry. MATCH AT 3PM, WEDNESDAY 2ND MAY.
