Shamrocks 1-05 Kilclief 0-6
The Senior Football team got off to a winning start beating Kilclief on Friday last in what was a scrappy game with both sides failing to convert their chances.
The Shamrocks were the dominant team in the first half, with the majority of possession. However a lot chances were not converted, and should have been out of sight in the first half, which ended with Shamrocks leading 1-03 to 0-01. Noel Heaney scored a great goal in the latter part of the first half following with a further point. Kilclief offered a strong physical challenge to the Shamrocks, but like the Shamrocks, and also missed many chances in the first half.
The 2nd half saw Kilclief come back strongly and add a further 5 points with Shamrocks adding only a further 2 points. A few poor refereeing decisions didnt help Shamrocks, but they held out for a deserving win based on their first half dominance.
Best for the Shamrocks on the night was Damien Raffery, Kevin McGuigan and Noel Heaney. |
